• Wear it Well Wednesday- Ask Margaux

Happy Wednesday, Mackinistas!  This is the first of a weekly post that will be written each week just for you!  You ask and I’ll answer.  The content will vary based on your questions, thoughts, and concerns about fashion and style.I am here to help and offer suggestions and solutions!

Recently, Donna reached out to me with a question that I thought was a great way to start things off.  She mentioned that about a month ago she attended a wedding and her friend remarked on the new dress that Donna was wearing,“I like the style, but I don’t think it’s your color.”  So, Donna asked:  "how do I know if it is my color?"  Great question!

This is something that is so personal to everyone for many reasons.  Basic factors that make color choice somewhat simple are, what looks good with your hair and/or your eye color.  The tone of your skin will also impact how color looks on you.  Then of course, there is what you like for color because how you feel about what you have on will definitely determine how well you wear it.  Sometimes it takes a little experimentation:  perhaps a day at home trying on different things to get a sense of what looks good.  I also recommend that you try things on when you have your hair and make up done.  I know that if I shop or even try something on at home, after getting it in the mail that I don’t always like it if I don’t have myself looking good.  That is also a good tip for when you go to get your hair done--have your face looking good!

I also need to mention that the time of the year dictates how colors look on me.  I rarely wear white, but if I do, it’s in the summer when I have a tan.  That is not an uncommon thing but other colors will look different during various times of the year.

If you have followed my posts in the past you will know that for me it often comes back to how does it make you feel?  That is the most important.  Others may have their opinion about something that you wear but you’re the one who is wearing it and if you like it that is what is the most important… therefore you will wear it well.  Anyone who follows and admires Bob Mackie knows that, because he has been blazing the trail for decades with one of a kind, unique ideas that are about following your personal style.  That is what fashion is all about.  I thank you Donna for a great story to help us kick off our first of many weekly Wear it Well Wednesdays.  Post your questions here or on our facebook page and I’ll answer back!

Another question I do get a lot is when is Bob back on QVC?

The linen jacket looks great! And thank you, Bob, for using a natural fiber. I have been so disappointed that you have started using a lot of polyester – I love your designs, but cannot wear poly to save my life! I have over a dozen of your silk blouses, along with at least 6 of your tees – not to mention all your sweaters I have! Please, please consider at least a few of your designs in silk again!
