For the first time ever, we are giving away a one-of-a-kind, vintage Bob Mackie gown! To help bring you this beautiful Mackie, we are teaming up with vintage style expert and blogger extraordinaire, Sammy Davis of Sammy Davis Vintage! This floor length, cream colored dress is from Bob’s first collection in 1982 and would be a welcome addition to any collectors closet!
While the dress is seemingly simple in structure, with its sweetheart neckline and rouched waist, the definite wow factor decidedly lies in the exquisitely detailed, hand-sewn sequined flower cap sleeves that make the dress a trademark Mackie. To commemorate the birthplace of New York Fashion Week and the debut location of this gown, we photographed Sammy in the dress at New York City’s historic Bryant Park! Needless to say, the dress caused quite the commotion throughout the park, leading many to ask where Sammy got her “wedding gown” from. (It would be the perfect wedding dress!)
For additional photos, check out our Facebook Page.
The dress is an approximate modern size 2-4 and the measurements are as follows:
32″-35″ bust - 24″-27″ waist – hips up to 48″
Laid flat without taking stretch into consideration, the measurements are as follows:
32″ bust – 24″ waist – hips 26″, stretches up to 48″
For those in the NYC area, the dress will be on display at Screaming Mimi's from August 13th through August 29th.
Here's more from Sammy telling you all about her experience, the dress, and details about the contest.
