Whenever you see Bob on QVC, rest assured there is a man backstage helping to make sure the models appear exactly as planned.
For the last fourteen years, Joe McFate has been the Design Director for Bob Mackie, Bob Mackie Home, Bob Mackie Wearable Art for QVC, and has worked nationally and internationally with such stars as Cher, Tina Turner, and P!NK.
Prior to his role as Design Director, Joe has an extensive background in theater. His Broadway credits as an Associate Costume Designer include working with the legendary Alvin Colt, “Waiting In The Wings” by Noel Coward, starring Lauren Bacall and Rosemary Harris, and “Sacrilege”, starring Ellen Burstyn. As Bob says, “Fashion is everyday theater.”
Joe’s talent and creative vision has made him an indispensable part of the Bob Mackie Design Team. Directly involved in the design process, Joe works side by side with Bob to develop the Wearable Art collection. Bob trusts his eye for color, scale, and taste. Each item has extensive detailing, which covers embroidery, fabrication, and prints, all of which are developed in our studio. Joe ensures that the final QVC product arrives to the client exactly as Bob imagined.
